Carnival

SoundClouder of the Day | Go! Outsiders

Nothing says rebellion like a rock song. As the United States celebrates their independence, we can think of no better genre for our SoundClouder of the Day than Rock and Roll.  Brazillian rockers Go! Outsiders bring high energy throughout their Queens of the Stone Age inspired jam Spoiler

City of Samba

When people read books they are transported to another place. To imaginary places. Imaginaria is an app created by Livraria da Vila Bookstore where people can make check-in every time they are reading books. Then, people can share the imaginary places they are on Facebook and Twitter. The more check-in users make, the more points they earn. And the more points they earn, the more discounts they will have at the bookstore…

Giant Sprite dipenser

A giant Sprite dispenser placed in one of the most crowded beaches in Brazil, where people could have a cold refreshing shower during Brazilian summer, where temperatures reach close to 40ºc. With more then 1,500 showers everyday, together with a sampling strategy around the machine. Sprite Shower was able to leverage the brand above all others in the field and consumers more than merely hearing about Sprite’s refreshing power, felt it directly all over their bodies.

Reading for freedom

Inmates in four federal prisons holding some of Brazil’s most notorious criminals will be able to read up to 12 works of literature, philosophy, science or classics to trim a maximum 48 days off their sentence each year, the government announced.

Prisoners will have up to four weeks to read each book and write an essay which must “make correct use of paragraphs, be free of corrections, use margins and legible joined-up writing,” said the notice published on Monday in the official gazette.

A special panel will decide which inmates are eligible to participate in the program dubbed “Redemption through Reading”.

“A person can leave prison more enlightened and with a enlarged vision of the world,” said Sao Paulo lawyer Andre Kehdi, who heads a book donation project for prisons.

“Without doubt they will leave a better person,” he said…
