Traffic jam

Me sorprendieron estas imágenes de un embotellamiento recién ocurrido en la autopista a las afueras de Beijing, China, después de un fin de semana de eso donde todos aprovechan para pasear. Un hormiguero humano.

Todo ocurrió -aparentemente- porque alguien tuvo la idea de poner un check point (un alcoholímetro o algo así). Para revisar a cada uno de los millones de  viajeros que volvían a su casas.

Coincido que (como dice la nota), así es como se ve el fin del mundo. Al menos en las ciudades…

Hell. Pain. Agony. Anger. Madness. To the point where you just start punching your steering wheel and try to rip off your car’s roof and scream until your forehead and neck veins burst and then cry like a crazy person. That’s what it must feel like going through this insane traffic jam just outside of Beijing, China. A checkpoint on the other side of the toll booth caused this ridiculousness to happen.Watch how horrible it was in the video below. This is what the end of the world looks like…

Waze & Terminator

Para promocionar su nueva película de la saga de Terminator – Genesis, la productora (Paramount) hizo una alianza con la gente de Waze (la aplicación de tráfico y navegación a base de comandos de voz), para que en estos días de su lanzamiento l agente pueda tener la opción de tener la voz del famoso T-800.

Esto equivale a decir que tendrás a Arnold Scharzenegger guiándote por Waze en tu coche. Con todo y su pésimo inglés (y esperemos que con algunas de sus frases mas célebres).

No se ustedes pero a mí la promoción, además que perecerme original, me parece ca-ga-dí-si-ma. Y si no entienden porqué vean los videos de los comments en la nota de Gizmodo que les comparto…

Lo único que no tomaron en cuenta es que además de tener a Terminator en el coche, para muchos de nsotros la voz de arnold tambien equivale a tener a Conan, al Kindergarten-Cop, a Comando, a Mr. Freeze, a Quaid (de Total Recall), a uno de los Twins, al papá de El regalo prometido… y ya mejor no sigo.

Pero la verdad -y con todo lo grinch que soy- es que sí me dan ganas de usar Waze (casi no lo abro), para hablar un rato con Arnold. Lo que quiere decir que la promo va a funcionar…

More Than Half of Internet Traffic Is Just Bots

No se preocupen demasiado por ese día en que los máquinas dominarán la tierra. La verdad es que ya hace rato que llegó.
Vean por ejemplo este estudio de Incapsula (empresa especializada en cyber-seguridad y análisis de datos), sobre el predominio del tráfico no-humano en  internet…

People attribute a lot of annoying internet stuff to bots. Twitterbot followers, bots that sneak past spam filters, bots that send weird gibberish on messaging services. It sounds kind of tired, but maybe the situation is exactly as bad as everyone thinks.

Security and cloud service provider Incapsula analyzed 1.45 billion page views from 20,000 sites over 90 days. Their sample, which included traffic from 249 countries by IP address, showed that more than 60 percent of internet traffic is computer generated, compared to less than 40 percent of traffic that is driven by human clicks. That’s a pretty lame spread. In their infographic, Incapsula points out that there bots can have different end goals, and can mess stuff up in a variety of ways ranging from annoying to critical. Con datos como este me queda claro que la revolución tecnológica que estamos viviendo actualmente -la de mobile, dirían algunos- apenas comienza. Seamos honestos (incluso hasta los que nos dedicamos a esto): no tenemos ni idea de hasta donde va a llevarnos el futuro tecnológico de los próximos años…
